Obituary

Ismay Hazel King was born on March 6, 1940, in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama. She migrated to the United States on September 11, 1977, where she worked as a process server at Manufacturer Hanover Trust, which is now known as JP Morgan Chase, until her retirement. She was also afforded the opportunity to become a citizen of the United States.

Ismay, was affectionally known as, Granny, Ma, Mother, Mammi, Old Lady, and Vesina. She was loved by many. She was very sassy, spicy, and funny. In her former life, she could have been a comedian. Above all, she had a big heart. She took in so many people as her own and was very kind and supportive. She was the undercover mother to so many. Ismay loved to sing, dance (especially electric slide), do crossword puzzles, watch cowboy movies, cook, bake cookies, dress up in African attire, and heck if she found some gold shoes, you couldn't tell her anything. Her mind was very sharp, and she remembered most birthdays. She will be remembered for calling people early in the morning to sing and pray with or for them. However, what she loved the most was her family, going to church, and Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Even at the tender age of 83, she was always willing to learn about what doth saith the Lord.

Ismay was a member and deaconess of Mt. Sinai Spiritual Baptist Church of God in Brooklyn, NY. (Pastor M. Gittens) since 1977 until she joined Kingdom Builders Christian Center in Lakeland, FL on October 8, 2023. Ismay was a part of Firmament Ministries Int'l in Barbados (Pastor A. Daniels) and she would occasionally join the Always Praying for you Ministries out of the Bronx NY, and Tabernacle of Mount Teman, Brooklyn, NY (Bishop Reid and Bishop Gill). Ismay loved life, and her prayers were for her family and others to be saved. One of the greatest things she instilled in us was to put God first, pray about anything and everything, and believe that God could do all things but fail. There is so much to say and hard to sum up in only a few words. But the true testament of who she was is seen by all those who are present here and online. Her beautiful smile laughter and welcoming presence will forever be missed.

She is preceded by her parents, Ellsworth King, and Eunice Knight, siblings Iona Pottinger, and Ellsworth Evans Jr, and son: Eduardo Farrell. She is survived by children: Angela Riley, Fernando Livingston, and Vielka Blaizes, Aunt: Lillian Cameron, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 1 granddaughter in law, bonus children, to many to mention, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins especially Cousin Olive and Cousin Rennie and 2 grand puppies Apollo and Grace,
She will be missed. Sweet Rest Mother, Grandma, and friend until we meet again.
