Mr. Johnson of Bartow transitioned Monday, July 29, 2024. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life to follow at Praise Temple Deliverance - 1010 Britts Lane, Bartow, Florida 33830. Interment will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 - 12:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery - 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with full Military honors.
James Willie Johnson, Jr. was born February 5, 1947 to James Willie, Sr. and Ella Mae Johnson in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He was the third of nine children.
James attended Lincoln Park Academy in Ft. Pierce and later graduated from Union Academy in Bartow 1966. James attended the First Born Church of the Living God.
James was drafted in the United States Army on October 21, 1966 and served in Vietnam. He was honorable discharged October 20, 1972.
After his service to his country, he worked as an EMT for Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue for many years. He later relocated back to Polk County and he began working as a Security Guard for the local mine company.
James was married to Lillie Pearl Johnson and to this union, 1 daughter was born. It should be noted that James as an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
He entered eternal rest on July 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and siblings: Olivia L. Watkins and Johnny B. Johnson.
He leaves a world of warm thoughts and precious memories to his daughter: Shonterra Johnson; siblings: Jamie Gaskin (Tony), Evangelist DiAnne Watson (Bishop Willie), Robert Johnson; nephews and nieces: Christopher Johnson, Dawnetta Hayes (Rodney), Michael Wearing (Neecy), Alyssa King, Willie Watson, III (Rhobbyn), Wylecia Gayle (Tony), Leroy Watkins III, (Liz), Sheyla Watkins, Valerie Tomlinson (Torey), Shelita Lammers (Larry) and a host of extended family and friends.
